Council rates

Notify council and strata/body corporate; keep rates and levies current during administration to avoid penalties

How

Contact the council to move the rates account into the estate's name and keep it current. Ask whether any pensioner rate concession applied, since it usually ends on death and the rates will rise. Notify the water authority and arrange meter readings if the property will be vacant or sold. Ask whether the council offers any hardship or deferral arrangement while the estate is being administered.
