How

Contact the servicer promptly and ask for the payoff balance as of the date of death. Identify yourself as a successor in interest if you inherited the property, which gives you specific rights to information and to apply for assistance. Ask whether the loan carried mortgage life insurance that repays it. Keep making payments from the estate while the administration proceeds, so the loan does not fall into default.
