Ask HR specifically about group life insurance, accidental death coverage, and any unpaid wages, PTO, or bonus. Ask for the plan administrator's contact details for the 401(k) or pension, and for the beneficiary designation on file. Ask about COBRA continuation coverage for a surviving spouse and children, there is a strict election window. Ask whether the employer offers any bereavement or survivor assistance benefit.
