Check their vault, wallet, filing box, and email for a funeral policy or prepaid plan before you commit to a parlour. Ask the parlour for a written quote before signing anything. You are allowed to compare two or three. Let the parlour collect the body and lodge the DHA-1663 with Home Affairs, they do this as part of the service. Confirm who is paying and how. A funeral policy usually pays the parlour, not the family.

Timing

Most parlours want to collect the body within 24 hours. Burial or cremation usually happens within 7 to 14 days.
