Search the obvious places first: home safe, filing cabinet, bedside drawer, and any file marked will or estate.
Phone their bank and ask whether a will is held in safe custody, banks keep these for clients.
Phone any attorney or financial adviser whose details appear in their contacts or bank statements.
If nothing turns up, the Master of the High Court can be asked whether a will has been lodged, and the estate is otherwise wound up under intestate succession.
